Name That Plant!

What's the name of this daisy

I've had this daisy growing in the garden for a few years. I love it. The stems are about 3' tall and the blooms are quite large and last for a very long time. I thought it was some type of Shasta daisy but I can't find it online.

Might be Leucanthemum Superbum 'Aglaia' which is a fringed Shasta daisy.

That's not it. That one has much longer, straight petals and it's a shorter plant. I'm pretty sure mine is some variety of Shasta daisy though, I just don't know which one.

No, I'm familiar with Gazania (lovely, but I kill them faster than...ummm, I can't think of anything that dies faster for me :-( ) I decided to go to my local nursery and find out : needed to buy the annuals, wanted to dodge work anyway. I had asked them last year, brought in a flower to identify. They were mystified: then I found it later in the season on one of their tables in the back. Today I found they had it too: but not really the colors I wanted, like the hot orange I had last year: mostly in yellow, peach, and melon colors. Priced at what I thought was really high: a 3 1/2 inch pot for $3.95. (I don't know what's a good price, but that seems high to me. Anything a bit unusual was not in a 6-pack but in a 3 1/2 inch pot. Even Supertunias.) I bought a weird white, dark blue centered one, just to have it and see again what it does. This year they had used it heavily (the yellow ones) in the combo pot arrangements they make and sell (at a very high price) for the color-challenged to buy. Now I'm home of course I've blanked on the name again: similar to Ostrowspermia something. When my legs recover from 4 hours in the nursery I'll trundle out to the deck and read the label.

Yes it is an african daisy. I included a link to the one you have. It is also called Arctotis venusta. One of my favorites. It did very well in my garden in zone 5. Make sure it gets lots of sun or it may flop alittle. Here is a link that might be useful: Blue-eyed african daisy

There are two other Fringed Shasta daisies called 'MarconiÂ and 'ChiffonÂ. Your plants is fringed looking.

Just bought a very similar one that isn't yet planted so I went out and pulled the tag. Mine is... Leucanthemum x superbum 'Crazy Daisy'.

Maybe it is one of those varieties but when I looked them up online none have the same flower.

Karyn, your Shasta looks identical to my Marconi, a double with a large yellow disk and the white petals are very curly but shorter than most. Mine isn't blooming yet so I can't show a picture of it. I've tried searching the web for more information on this one and so far have come up zilch. I did find some info on 'Crazy Daisy' apparently this one's flowers can vary as it seems to grown from a seed strain, maybe 'Marconi' is from a seed strain too which would explain why some Shasta's grown under the same name are slightly different.

Photos of 'Marconi' I think the flowers can vary somewhat, along with height depending on growing conditions. One of the photos looks very much like your flower.

I have yet to find anything that looks quite the same but it is a Marconi. I'd divided that plant a couple times and planted the divisions elsewhere in the yard. I took a look at some of the others today. The ones that are growing in full sun look like the pics online. Maybe because those are growing in a fairly shady area under a fig tree the blooms are different. Here's a pic of one of the divisions that I took last year. It looks just like what I've seen online. I like the weird one better! lol Thanks for all the links.
