Watercress taking over

pikecoe

I planted watercress in my skippy filter, and it has just about taken over. When I pull the leaves aside and look underneath the leaves, there is about 5 or 6 inches of masses of roots. Is this good or bad? Also the leaves are full of holes. Something is really enjoying eating it. Anyone know if I should try to do anything with this or just leave it be. I had a problem with the primrose creeper in there last year. Little tiny metallic blue looking bugs all over it eating then the big green hornworms devoured all the leaves. Glenda
