Missing summer's blooms part 2

Clio, this last summer was her first to bloom in my garden. All her blooms balled, but opened okay when I helped her along a little bit.

Darlow's Enigma, after a year or two in a pot, last summer was it's first in the ground. Grew quite alot, and bloomed reasonably well and often.

Crested Moss, I like this pic becuase it shows both bloom and bud, just wish it was a little clearer.

Oh sheesh, I think what we rescued last night were Mom & Dad, not the babies. This afternoon the babies are still cheeping at the top of their lungs in there. I guess I will have to keep an eye out for anyone else needing help. Mom & Dad must have got on the wrong side of the damper by accident. I can hear when they fly in and out so I will make sure to listen that they're ok and still coming back to their babies today. Hope everyone's ok! :0 Laurie, yes they are lucky I noticed them, I was just going to bed and DH noticed that the cat was going nuts in front of the fireplace, LOL. Maggie found them for us.

Homegrown figs definitely taste better than store bought!! Everything looks great! I wish my Basjoos grew half as well as yours. Mine stayed the same height all summer long even though they did grow 10 leaves. Now Im overwintering them in the ground, and we will see what happens. I wont be too devestated if I lose them because I dont have a lot of space, and there are other plants that would happily take their space and grow better! Great ensete and Cycads! I like the calla lily a lot too. Someone around here had calla lilies in their yard and I asked them if they came back, and they said that they dont do anything and they come back well. I think I'll add some calla lilies next year too since they are very interesting plants with beautiful blooms. Thanks for sharing! -Alex

Leslie, VESPER does fade a bit to a lighter apricot color. But I like it. But, my very favorite rose is BUTTERSCOTCH CL. Jean, a lot of my roses are all lying over too... not from a storm, but the sprinkler risers I added last yr! The water knocks them all over. I gotta stake a lot of the taller ones. Iris gal, SPECIAL OCCASION has become one of my favorite apricots. It blooms better than most. Maurie, welcome to Garden Web! And watch out! Roses are really addicting, as are these Forums! Bgrose, there are a few roses I don't have that I'd love to get. SILVER WEDDING, FREDDY MERCURY, TINA TURNER, MICHEL SERRAULT, SIMSALABIM and the lavender/green florist rose HALLOWEEN are a few I can think of right off the top of my head! Decobug, I'm not sure what this "VARIETY CLUB" might really be. The one pic I found of it shows yellow w/red edges.

Eric, while some of my roses get bad cases of blackspot in my no-spray garden, Darlow has never shown a hint of it, when it was in the pot or in the ground.

Thank you Randy. About Crested Moss, I have to say it has the strangest foliage growth pattern I have ever seen on a rose. Very little foliage and what there is of it doesn't seem to grow in a uniform fashiion. Just wherever the heck the plant feels like putting it I guess. Hopefully this summer I'll remember to take a picture of the whole bush, and you can see what I mean. It's just odd. Still love the blooms and buds though.

I look forward to seeing Clio in bloom next summer. It produced a few blooms last summer. I love the color and shape of the bloom.

Eric, you should definately get one :-) If anything happened to mine, I would replace it asap, I like it that much.

Krista, Clio wasn't a strong producer in my garden either. Hopefully she does a little better this year. I'm giving her 2 more years, between the balling and sparse bloom last year, I'm not overly impressed so far. Like the blooms, but not enough to keep her if she doesn't shape up. This is her 3rd summer, so we'll see what we see I guess.
