Orphan on my Doorstep

Came home last evening to find this little guy sitting all alone on my doorstep :

I had mixed emotions. On one hand, I felt bad for the unwanted little creature. The spike is still green and freshly cut. I was also thrilled to have a new addition. The owner had enough sense not to throw him to the dust bin (mere inches away. The big black wheel on the left side of the pic) He looks like a HD phal.

If the person who dropped him off is out there lurking; I received him. Thank you for taking the time to drop him off. You did the right thing. He looks healthy. He is pretty to me, even without his flowers. You did a good job of taking care of him. I peeked at his roots. They look pretty good!

I've already made a spot for him where he will flourish and bloom again. Don't worry, he will be well cared for and loved just as one of my own.

I wonder what I should name him?

That's such a cool picture. The door is soooo big and the plant is sooooooo small in comparison. Yep, a true orphan.

He is still mine. Dottie it is only 7 seconds long - maybe try it late at night or early in the morning. Sorry the vid is so short - yes Banjo is barely horse size and he is short too. The trainer is tall though. He has been crabby since he has moved. Hope he soon gets in better spirits. Kathy

Lette_04 Here is the recipe for Pizzelles . It can be used for Biscotti also. One batch makes 2 strips in a cookie tin. Just add more flour to make a soft dough that does not stick to your hands. i usually make about 20 pizzelles, then mix in more flour to make the Biscotti. Makes one strip in the cookie tin. LOU ************************************ Good , Light, Crispy, Delicious, Mouth Watering, To kill for, Lou's Pizzelles 3-X large eggs 1/2 cup (1 stick ) of melted butter ( not hot ) 3 tablespoons of oil 1 cup of Sugar + 3 Tablespoons 4 Teasps. of Anise Extract or 1 Teasp. Anise Oil or Try a little less first and adjust to taste I use McCormick's Anise Extract or Anise Oil from Fante's of Phila. 1 3/4 cups of flour , add more to thicken 4 level, teaspoons of Baking Powder Mix well, All the ingredients, except the Flour & Baking powder Then add them and mix well. If you think the dough is too soft add a little more flour. I add until the batter peaks , ( a little stiff ) while mixing , and mix with a Tablespoon, to make a soft dough. I use a Mellon Scoop, with a trigger release, to measure the dough. ( it holds one teaspoon ) When baking the Pizzelles pile them far away from where you are baking. Because they are soooo Gooood you will be eating them as you go. This will make about 40 Pizzelles, unless didn't listen and piled them too close. Then you will have about 3 left and gained 2 lb. Yes, Cycads, Handle with care if you aren't used to them, some people get an allergic reaction. Wash your hands or use gloves and don't touch your eyes.

I felt so bad for him, all huddled up against that beast of a door. Used to be a loading door when this was an industrial space. Had to zoom in or you guys would have seen a green spec. ... a very cool present Carolyn. Too bad it wasn't a Peruvianum though. Still can't that one off my mind! That was a double WOW!

It's definitely a boy. The only boy Phal. He has to stay by himself for awhile but he can't wait to hang out with the girls!

Frank? ....He could be a Frank :-)

I think that's a girl.

Since she is seeking rehab, the names are obvious! Lindsey? Paris? Brittany? maybe...Nicole?

I'd be happy just to get the pot. :)

what about oliver if a boy and annie if a girl? he/she should be famous and classic and romantic.

Maybe name him August. It's dignified, easy to say, plus it's the month you took him in.

You're doing a good thing. May the Orchid Angels smile on you.

MB- I don't see anything wrong with naming an orchid 'Nicole' I happen to like the name.

Although I do think 'Annie' or 'August' are the best options.

Clara- that's really cool, someone leaving you an orchid on your door step. Kind of sweet.

I like the name Nicole. I have a step-cousin named Nicole. Actually her name is Lauren, but there were so many other Laurens in her classes, she went with her middle name, Nicole.
