Unknown perennials

Greetings,

I'm hoping someone on this forum can name the two plants I have. I've been unable to find a name, but am told they are perennial here in coastal Virginia.

They die back to the ground, then grow again in spring. One is blooming with small white flowers. These plants are grown for the foliage, not flowers.

Here's hoping I am successful in loading pictures.

My recommendation for posting pictures :

Open a free Photobucket.com account.
Upload your picture(s) there.
Look below the picture where there are three options.
Select the HTML Tag line ( middle line) and click on that. It will automatically copy that line.
Return here and paste right on the face of your post, in the same area where you type your text, NOT in a link or upload box. You can submit multiple photos that way, all on the same post and size restrictions are no problem.
Click on preview and view your picture(s) before submitting them. This should take only a couple of minutes and once your account is set up, you have the ease of posting multiple pictures on any forum.

OK, that didn't work, how do I get pictures to load?
