Wild Plum - which Prunus?

I inherited a small tree that was neglected for years at the edge of the propery. It's about 20 ft tall and seems to send suckers out in all directions. Most of the suckers have failed, although as they invade garden beds they're doing better (better soil and more water). I'm in southeast MA by the coast. It fits the description of a wild plum, maybe Prunus americana or P. angustifolia, or some other plum.

Flowers in May:

The original tree is in major decline - please excuse the door, there's a big hole and I put the door there to amuse the kids (and the rest of us).

The length of the leaves is very variable. The younger suckers have longer leaves but most of the older ones are smaller.

I've decided to encourage the plum patch, even though it wants to take over the whole garden. Can you confirm that this is a wild plum and identify which one?

Thanks,

Claire
