I would remove a couple of lower rows of leaves and repot the plant in the smaller pot. Like half of the current one. Exactly as Ima_digger and Tommyr pointed - heavy wet soil = is a paradise for fungus gnats - mix a new soil - cut it half and half with perlite to lighten it up. The gnats live in organic soil, if you get vermiculite and when you are repotting - fill the last inch of pot with vermiculite - you will significantly reduce the gnats. I do not think it is possible to get rid of them without pesticide. The adult gnats are flying and laying eggs - and the larva lives in a first inch of soil. You can get some mild pesticide - like neem oil based 3-in-1 spray, and soak the soil with it. The first thing to do - to keep your pot on a dry side. It will really help with bugs and will stop the decline. The pot is too big, the soil is too wet - and this is the main problem. Good Luck Irina

Yes, I am definately going to have to do something about the camera situation. I used to take lots of pictures with the camera when it was new. I had Leopard Geckops then and used to post pitures of the babies on a reptile forum. Its so old now and I am sure the newer cameras are much better. Not that the taking of pictures with the camera is difficult, just have to offload, resize and put them on a server somewhere. Before I got the daylily bug, my main garden flower interest for the past three years was roses. Still is a big deal as I have over 150 of them (have to go spray them this afternoon) so all the people on the rose forum are well aquanted with my adventures in adding roses for the garden. I am always posting about my garden work. Before the roses it was all the fruit and edibles I added (posting on the fruit and orchards forum) and before that the shrubs forum and also the wildlife forum as I put in a woodsey border running all along one side of my property to look good and attract backyard fruit eating birds. Have so many viburnums (at least 40) and servicebery, shrub dogwoods, Azaelas up the bazoo, cherry trees, raspberries and blackberries, other fruiting shrubs, over 20 blueberry shrubs, perrenial flowers such as purple coneflowers, joe pie weed, butterfly weed, 5 butterfly bushes, many, many vining honeysucklyes, a nice large veggie garden with about 40 tomato plants (I like the tomatoes forum too) and well, the list just goes on and on. People are amazed at what I have here and you would think I live in the country but not true. I know I could never fit all this stuff if my yard was only one level, the multi-levels work really well for creating gardens. You just need to think out of the box so to speak. Anyway, it was a very good thing I got the daylily bug as I was redoing a section of my front yard and wanted to do a garden between two rose gardens in my front yard. Daylilies were perfect. Much less work in the long run than roses and I wanted summer flowers to be putting on a show after the big bang of the roses spring flush was over. They of course do rebloom on and off all summer so there is usually rose color but everything putting on a big show blooming at once is the spring bloom. Anyway, there is actually an open flower on Minstrals Fire today. Small, but really lovely and perfect.

Success!!! I went Jungle Jack plumeria hunting at Home Depots and was able to find some in Duarte, CA. They are in 2 gallon containers and cost $25.90. The plants look healthy and have at least 3 branches. The tags are Jungle Jack but the ones I found had generic descriptions. I did find markings on the branches. Does anyone know what the specific varieties are based on the codes? Premium Rainbow - HD Premium Yellow - Y (I'm hoping it's Inca Gold!) Premium Pink - SPJH J09 (I think it spells SPJH... it could be SPJM) Or if anyone knows of any other codes it would be nice to keep a list just in case we run into more JJs during our hunt!
