unknown plant -- white flowers

This plant is about 3 feet tall and occasionally has a white flower. The plant you see was separated from a larger plant my uncle has had for many years. Can you help identify it?

Thank you Joe. I found a photograph of the bloom on the web and my uncle said that was it. So white ginger it is and the mystery is solved! Now I can get more information on how to care for it in Indiana. Thanks again.

Thanks for responding, Hortster. I think I will get some better photos this weekend. The big one especially is hard to see, with other plants crowding it. This is a hard one to identify.

Thanks for the help esh_ga and floral_uk. I went back to see if I could get some better photos (originals a little overexposed) and all the plants were finished blooming already; I would guess they only bloomed for about a week at most, I guess I will have to wait till next year to get more pix.
