New to orchids, repotting cymbidium questions.

I have had a NoID cymbidium foisted upon me (Heck, I don't even know what colour the blooms are) and am seeng conflicting information on the web, so please help out an orchid newbie.

The critter is trying to grow out of the pot, so I assume it's time to repot (also dead roots on surface). What is a good medium? I have sterile garden soil, ground bark (reptile bedding bark), peat moss, limestone screenings, pea gravel and shredded cedar mulch on hand. What would be a good mix?

How much medium underneath it, as the pots I have on hand are quite deep, so there's room for lots of drainage material?

How much light does it require? I have had it on my porch, which is open shade plus 1-2 hours late afternoon sun.

Watering... I've been watering when dried out, and giving it a light feed (20-10-10) every week. When the air is dry I have been misting it.

It seems happy enough to put out new growth, but I'd like this guy/gal to thrive.
