I too have a hosta fetish and some Star Trek hostas. In addition to Captain Kirk, Vulcan, and the aforementioned Enterprise, there is Starship. I have Kirk and Enterprise, and I declared to myself that 'El Capitan' is also a Star Trek hosta! (If you are a real fan that will of course make sense.) Unfortunately, I just got these 3 hostas 2 years ago and they are not ready to split yet. Otherwise I'd be glad to arrange an Enterprise/Vulcan trade... More positive but useful information as well....it's been recommended in books to plant Dark Star in "shade to deep shade", a recommendation I decided to test...ignored...I didn't want to place this very pretty hosta where it could not be seen (I have only one spot, small, with deep shade). There's an obvious reason for deep shade....colour retention for one, however....my hosta, my choice .... DS enjoys full sun from sun-up till around 2:00pm....she would very likely be more blue with less sun, but I think she's fabulous just as she is. The fact that she is not suffering from heat and humidity, does NOT get water pampered, the slugs don't seem to bother her.....well, add all that up and you've got a trouper of a hosta. I'm loving this hosta more and more. She looks like a diva but looks are deceiving! Lol You'll be very happy with your choice, I'm that confident!

There are star trek patterns, but I have not found them to correct to the orginal. It may have a side seam, I don't know, but what I noticed is the front seam. I took pattern drafting, and you can alter a pattern by slashing out or cutting out part in front, but it's not easy to do that. You must then ad seam allowance to the parts you have cut and then sew them together. I have the correct fabric a Lycra cotton blend, but I think the dress from 1968 would not be Lycra. I don't think Lycra was invented back then. I am going to make a some test prototypes before cutting the good fabric. Unfortunately, I took flat pattern drafting along time ago and I don't remember very much, but I have a dress form that I can try to do draping also and see what works. I know a plain test with a side seam will make any stomach expect for the most flat stick out. That's why the dress has the seams in front, which allow it to lie gracefully over the stomach instead of stretched tight.

She was the computer voice on most shows of the series, and Nurse Chapel on the original series. She was also the First Officer in the pilot of the original series. But my favorite character of her's was Lwaxana Troi on the Next Generation series. She was priceless. I met her once when I lived in CA (about 1990), and she was just a delightful, intelligent,and bubbly personality. I'm sorry she's gone, and so young.
