What I did was break every gardening rule due to ignorance 1- I watered it as soon as I re-potted. I'm told you need to give the roots time to settle in but I thought the roots would need extra water since they weren't deep in the pot yet. If that's a no-no I got lucky that it's a hardy plant. 2- I give it tropical houseplant amounts of water. It dries up fast, in a few days even. I give it a good amount of water and let it get very dry (it's in cacti dirt and a clay pot). It's not a true cacti so I assumed it needed more than cacti levels of water but had no idea how much. 3- I put potting bark on top to help it not dry out on top. I think that may keep the moisture level more consistent from top to bottom but mostly I like the way it looks. If I had to guess, and trust me I'm no expert, I'd say it seems to like more water than what most people have suggested. Maybe it's because it's hot where it's at but I hope it continues to be happy. I'm prone to over watering by the way. I could over water goldfish. This thing is going to be a pot buster if I don't accidentally kill it.

thank you very much for the reply. yeah, the pics on imageshack arent working for me for some darn reason. if i can get a pic to work i'll gladly try posting again. as per the orchid id, i can be wrong, theres many types and im hardly the one to be 100% accurate atm. for some reason i put dendrobium orchid into google pic asnd got the phal orchid as main results. my tap water is rather hard to tell the truth. i can tell simply by the curling fins of my crowntail betta. their fins are prone to curling with hard water and it only took 2 week to curl them up. the fins have since gotten used to the water but id rather avoid such build up od sediments for the plants. i have 2 plants that do well with something closer to rainwater to begin with. i dont know if i'll continue with the soft water atm though i do want to make sure i get the best possible care for the plant. atm im trying to find the best location for lighting on the plant. the flowers do seem to go yellow a bit but i dont know if thats due to the event of opening flowers. The bigger one is a phalaenopsis and the smaller one is a mystery. We rescued it from a terrarium where it looked really unhappy. I haven't seen it bloom yet so I have no idea what it is. It has roots and not bulbs if that helps. The sphagnum is "Mosser Lee Long-Fibered Sphagnum". I've included the link below for more information. The glazed pot is bad? Really? It's an orchid pot with lots of holes on the sides. It seems like the plastic would be much worse since it only had holes at the bottom. Granted, I can't see the roots anymore but I feel like the orchids will get a lot more air around their roots in the new pots. I guess my main concern was that I didn't want to over-saturate the moss with water. Perhaps I should see how the moss acts before I start to worry. Thanks for your help! The reason I wanted to know where you live (state) is that culture instructions vary widely according to where you are. Sorry to say that i think the plant roots are in such a bad condition that it is doubtful if the plant can be saved or if it is saved the process could take ages before you see another flower. The plant needs temperatures in the 60 to 90F range. Good bright light or sunlight filtered by shade-cloth. A coarse well drained potting mix if you like to water often or a finer mix if you can stay your watering hand. Drainage must be perfect so that the roots can dry between waterings. Doesn't need filtered water, most water from the "tap" is fine. Fertilise more often in the warmer months with a complete fertilizer with trace elements. Forget about this humidity stuff. The current humidity reading in this room where I'm growing Phals. on a windowsill is 46%. Find some complete culture notes written for the Pacific North West and maybe buy a new plant.
