Katrina Dogs

I posted this over on the Hot Topics forum but darn it,it really isn't a hot topic and can just as easily be posted here and should have been in the first place.

An interesting situation is happening here. A local family adopted one of the dogs rescued after Katrina hit New Orleans. They've loved and nurtured this pooch whom they felt was not taken care of properly, and now the dog is a big part of their lives and seems to be thriving. The orginal owners finally were able to track down their dog and now want him back but the family here doesn't want to give him up. They feel his life is better than it used to be and don't want to see him return to his previous conditions. ( He wasn't abused.) It seems to be a matter of rich people feeling they can give him more than poor people. If you can go by the letters to the editor the overwhelming consensus is to give the dog back. The dog loved his first family and that bond will always be there. He doesn't know rich from poor, it was THEIR dog and they've been to Hell and back without the added stress of this.Another family in the area also has a dog from the same type of situation and are returning their dog to the owners in a couple of weeks and are willing to drive the other one down along with theirs and give them both back. Lucky dog to have two families loving him, when so many kids don't have one.
