Name That Plant!

Please help identify houseplant!

This plant was given to a friend, but she doesn't know what type of plant it is. We are wondering about what type it is, so we know how to care for it. We believe it is a common house plant. Currently it is about 8 inches in height and in a 2 in diameter pot. Its leaves remind me of a palm tree-- the stem shoots up, and then opens to thin, green, petal like leaves.

I have two that are now 9' tall. I just kept moving them to larger pots as they grew. I never kept them in direct sunlight or windy locations. I used Miracle Grow to keep them dark green and I watered once a week. And I think the new growth is the most adorable little sprout I've ever seen.

It's a variegated peperomia, and yes, it is flowering. The flowers consist of about what you see there...nothing showy. The fact that it is flowering means you're taking great care of it. Congratulations. bob
