Getting rid of Ranunculus ficaria without chemicals

Hi All,

You might remember me from this post:

"An entire yard of invasives"

So far we've managed to use no chemicals, although the person (purpleinpopp) who mentioned on that link that we'd bought ourselves an exercise plan was dead on. So we've moving through the yard bit by bit, but we've come to one area with a particularly nasty invasive: Ranunculus ficaria (lesser celandine). Everything I've seen about removing it mentions RoundUp (HELL NO!), We cleared the area yesterday, removed as much of the bulblets as possible, then covered the area with a triple layer of cardboard and mulch.

So.....will that do it? How long should we leave it there? Is there anything else we could do to kill the stuff?

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!
