Aquaponics

Hi

Anyone growing orchids using this method?? I built a seep wall and use the water from a watergarden and aquarium

as the water source. Have been reluctant to fertilize the orchids due to the fact the water is already loaded with nutrients. Or maybe not as the entire system is loaded with water plants which are usually gross feeders.

The usual tests for these systems . Ammonia , nitrite ,nitrate are rather useless for the epiphytes.

Any way to test the water from this perspective.??

I asked on the hydroponic forum and they suggested the usual tests but obviously useless for the orchids??

I could see where nitrate might be somewhat useful but what levels are desireable for epiphytes particularly orchids??? Thanks gary
