NYT Sunday Crossword

Does anybody do this? It is in my Sunday paper one week behind the original puzzle appearance. So if you do it from the NYT, it was last week's puzzle.

The title is "Shifty Business." and some clues have circles in the answers that stand for ordinal words, like first, fifth, etc. For instance, one clue is "It opened in Manhattan in 1924." And the answer is "Saks (Fifth) Avenue.

Ok, I am stuck on this clue ""Doesn't care either way." And the answer I have is "Takes a (circle) stance." I can't get the missing word. Can't think of any ordinal words that fit.

Going down, the clue is "It freshens the air." And I have "odor(circle)izer." Nothing fits there, either.

And the kicker is that my sister has the answers because she buys the NYT and the answer shows an "N" in the circle??? Odor(n)izer? Takes a(n)chance? Must be a misprint.
