Coddling moths

Every year the coddling moths eat holes in all my apples. Usually I pick off most or all of the tiny new apples and get rid of them, trying to get rid of food and abode for the moths, but that has never worked and they always show up the next year.

I've tried a coddling moth trap that uses pheromones. The traps aren't cheap and it is less expensive to buy apples somewhere else than use the traps. I'm presuming nets would be of no use. It is a small tree.

Is there an alternative to get rid of these moths? They may be coming from a neighbor's tree several blocks away.

Thanks from Sheryl
