NO! Do not do a rejuvenation to any Viburnum!! Michael Dirr, who wrote the book on them and who has developed many of them, recommends infrequent and light pruning of Viburnums, if any at all. This is my favorite shrub. I have at least two dozen and about 8 different cultivars. I believe the one you have is a Burkwood, but it could also be Judd. Either way, it's gorgeous, pretty much pest- and maintence free, and you should definitely NOT coppice it. You do that to a Rose of Sharon or a lilac, but never to a Viburnum. Rosebud, I am pretty sure that that is a virbinum. There are 150 different kinds, but since you think this is an early bloomer, that will narrow it down some. The leaves are shaped exactly like a virburnum. Next spring, make a note of the flower color, the scent and notice what color those berries turn later this fall. Then you will be able to see exactly what kind of virburnum it is. They are nice shrubs, they are reliable, hardy, beautiful shrubs. Congrats on your shrub and your new home.

Sharon I can't find the pictures of your path. I just started my adventure into gardening last year with vegetables. I was dared by my husband and that was all I needed. With the help of my dear fiend, (a master gardner and mentor) I cut down the necessary trees the next day and had the veggies & planted within the next 3days..so much for challenges in my family. I just made new beds and paths for my new perineal garden....a work in progress since it is just me and limited funds. For my paths, I called my tree man and asked if he would bring tree clipping from his jobs. To my surprise I ended up with 3 huge loads that I made my paths, saving the rest to season. Maybe not the best material for a path, but it was free and it fades into my landscape nicely. Now I am adding plants as I can afford. Love this site.
