Thank you pineresin. I did a bit more research and posed this on another forum. I found that low light is indeed one factor to larger leaves, slower growth. Having more red light would also contribute to larger leaves and longer internods, as would higher levels of fertilizer and urea ferts. If you had primarily blue light, you'd have smaller leaves, shorter internodes, as you would with higher light, lower fertility, and with nitrate based ferts.

I used to make toasted wheat berries. Wow, I'd forgotten all about them. Since I purchased wheat in 50 lb. tubs...we ate a LOT of them! I heated up a dry cast iron skillet over a medium-low heat, added just a tad bit of oil, & tossed about a 1/2 cup wheat berries into the pan. In just a couple minutes they'd start popping similar to popcorn but wheat berries don't get nearly as large. I would shake the pan to keep them from burning & in just a couple minutes they were done. Then, I'd pour them out into a bowl, sprinkle with a little salt, & munch on them all day. I never seasoned them with anything except salt. BTW, I was living in CA. /tricia

Ideefixe, I assume you are talking to me b/c I am the only one who didn't like the boxes. (Well, I like the boxes, just not in the china cabinet.) I don't think an object has to be pricey or antique to be displayed, but everytime I see those boxes, I picture a husband yelling "Honey, where did you put the stamps?" I think it is because the largest box has that silver rivet or snap on the side. They remind me of the canvas boxes that I just purchased at Target for my stationery supplies. They are pretty and functional, but their function doesn't seem suited to a formal dining room. Everything else in the OP's dining room is so polished and refined, the boxes feel like the odd man out. Just wanted to clarify so you wouldn't think that I'm a dollar-sign snob.
