I have two growing happily in a rocky medium (ceciliae and Mavis, which is ceciliae x fitzgeraldii). Ceciliae is one that is reportedly mostly lithophytic.

I just received a couple that obviously have been growing in s/h - hartmanii and fitzgeraldii. Both looking happy - the hartmanii especially so with a lot of those thick white semihydro roots.

I'm debating what to do with them. I'm not really a fan of s/h, but they might be happier going back into the same medium. On the other hand, a rocky mix seems to work well too so maybe I'll stick with that for the hartmanii at least - it's a cliff grower, I believe.

Also considering sphag in a clay pot (like neofinetia) - perhaps for the fitz. The fitz actually looks like it might like to be mounted....

I just looked at the fact sheet at the Australian Orchid Nursery and it says certain species will only grow well mounted, but doesn't tell you which ones those are :-(

Thoughts, anyone?
