Lady Slipper Continually Blooms. Snip the Old Stuff?

Spike_Flowers

I just bought a new Lady Slipper, tag says Paphiopedilum Nike's Sunny Delight (Avalon Mist 'Sunshine' x Pinocchio flavum 'Yellowtail'). The orchid continually blooms, so when the old flower falls off, a new spike shoots up and replaces it and the process apparently repeats. Should I cut off the old spike (the tall one in the back)?

Below are two pictures. I just got it and I don't want to get off on the wrong foot. Any advice would be appreciated.
