Congratulations are probably not in order, huh?

Bonus plants are a mixed blessing. Dunno about you, but I feel *obligated* to these living plants, even if I never would have ordered them, don't want them, don't want to make room for them, and may not have the conditions for them.

Free ain't free, when you figure in time, effort, shelf space, utilities, supplies or time, effort, and $$ to find a new home. 2nd cousin to getting a free puppy.

Hmmm, maybe we can ask NOT to be sent bonus plants when we order.

Can you plant the schillerianas in the same pot? Also the aclandiaes? At least that would consolidate somewhat.

Regardless, I feel your pain.

Well, heh-heh, it's not exactly pain. More like a sort've comical shock. But what I did was suspend a horizontal stake along the back of my light setup and I have them all hanging from that so they're getting good light without blocking anything else. Thank goodness they came mounted.

They also came with the mounts inserted in little plastic pots. I would have liked to use those little pots around the mounts in my conditions to conserve moisture - I'm a little worried about them drying out too much during the day when I'm not here - but with the plants hanging, I'd have to wire the pots onto them or something.

Nice order, John. Those bifoliates are my favorites and I'm not collecting anything else any longer. Good luck with those babies.

Thanks, Marci. Yes! They're chaming, fragrant, interesting and rewarding. I'm not totally a fool for giant floof (almost though).

Anyway, I think I had a stroke of genius about the little intermedia with no roots. I hung it upside down, a bit low. Why is that genius you ask? So the light will stimulate root growth while the leaves will be pointed down from the light instead of up to it and sort've shaded by the up-turned bottom of the plant. So that should conserve moisture while it's trying to root, while still delivering some light.

Hey, when you have three square feet to grow in, it's the little things that make you happy!

Good luck with the intermedia, they (and kingianum) grow like weeds here. Lol.

Failed failed to grow C. aclandiae previously, tempted to have another go.

Seeing we have a species laeliinae thread.... Has anyone flowered Laelia tenebrosa? and if so, how many years did they have to wait for first bloom?

Thanks for the heads-up Arthur. I'll have to do my research. Aclandiae and aclandiae crosses have worked well for me before, so that's one down. I'll have to check schilleriana and intermedia (if it decides to live).
