Name That Plant!

Please help identify my thorny bush

This thorny plant grows well and every year produces absolutely loads of small pink flowers (approx 5 cm diameter). It usually flowers in June but has been early this year due to all the sun we've had in the UK. I'd love to know what it is. Any ideas?

It is a rose, though I have no idea which one. If no one can specify which rose you've got, try GW's Rose Forum.

Very likely 'The Fairy' - widely grown over here.

Looks like raspberry plant. I've got tonnes of them here and if you don't pull them they are hard to get rid of. They will take over your entire yard and as they age the stems get woody and tougher. Wear leather gloves.

Thank you Resin, I really appreciate your help! I thought they might be, but all the pictures I see of Mugos never seem to have long branches like that -- so I was a bit confused. Childscapes, on this forum you can start your own separate thread. That might bring you quicker answers. There are also some experts on the Antique Roses forum that can help if it is an older variety. At first I thought it might be Dortmund, a Kordes climber, but the petals look too short. Beautiful photos, by the way.

Not 'The Fairy', that is quite different. This is more on the order of 'Cornelia', although it may not that one either. There are thousands of kinds of roses in cultivation, new and old. GardenWeb has a specific rose identification forum, you might try there if you have not already. Note the FAQ section and its instructions on how to post a useful query.

wisetuna - go with what bboy says. I was basing my id on what is most commonly planted and most widely available commercially here plus recollections of 'The Fairy' from other people's gardens. The link shows both Cornelia and The Fairy - see what you think.
