You're talking about putting that stuff in a compost pile and putting the finished compost on your plants, right? I put that stuff in my compost all the time. I put the coffee grounds in with their paper filters. I put paper tea bags in intact -- string and paper tags too. I cut the plastic mesh tea bags open and discard the plastic. There are things you could dig directly into the ground around plants like banana peels, but, for the most part, better to let it decompose first. And when you put stuff around your plants, make sure to keep it 1 1/2" away from the stems to avoid stem rot. I've also used coffee grounds as a mulch but just for acid-loving plants like azaleas.

I think you would be able to use the cooled leftover coffee to water your plants with. The only concern is it will stain the saucer or patio where it drains to. You can use the used coffee grounds or tea leaves to make a new batch of coffee or tea for a foliar feed or soil drench. You can use the grounds or tea leaves scratched into the soil. If you have a lawn, you can broadcast the grounds/tea leaves onto the lawn as a sort of fertilizer. I've never tried vermicomposting, as I have 2 compost piles outside, but I think it would be fun and create nice compost, and allow you to feed any other kitchen scraps as well. Laurie

"I hate top possibly sound stupid, but what would you use them on your lawn for. I have never heard of that." They provide organic matter and are also a mild fertilizer (about 1% - 2% N). Starbucks gives them away for free, so if there's a Starbucks convenient to you and you have a small lawn, you can take care of fertilizing the lawn for free. Since they're fairly low in N, they're not that practical for a large lawn.

Those tiny little tea leaves....says Mr Lipton, makes for a soothing drink. Add a touch of lemon or cinnamon stik or honey and you have the makings for a refresher. Grounds? Who uses the term tea grounds? Never heard it used. Tea has tannic acid in it and can give houseplants a little bit of acidity so after you make the first pot, make a second pot and water your houseplants with it. Or, let the tea bag dry and then split it open and spread the tea LEAVES on your plants' soils and each time you water you are giving it a bit of tonic. Or....tea leaves in your cup.... I see a man.......he is looking at you....he's a very handsome man.... travel is in your future.... I can see it so plainly.... there's a second person there.... oh dear.....its his wife... wash out the cup.
