Name That Plant!

help identifying vines

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for help identifying these vines. My husband bought some former timberland in East Tennessee last winter, and these thorny vines are all over the place. They didn't have leaves in the winter but now that they are coming out, they almost look like blackberry leaves? The whole plant doesn't really look like the blackberry shrubs I've seen though, and the color of the vines doesn't seem right either, green to light brown. Does anyone know what these are?

i see no vine.. so your term is confusing me ...

i cant focus on the leaves ... even hitting the pic as a link ..

it reminds me of arching bramble ... of which.. now that i google lin's suggestion.. we appear to be agreeing ... lol .. i thought she was meaning currant ... ribes ...

I don't think it is wild grape - I have the same vine - single woody vine with shoots of 7 leaves - the same shape leaf - 3 sets of opposite leaves with single leaf at the end - leaves are maybe 3 inches long

Where is this located, John? Are you in the UK? If so the green stem looks like Jasminum officinale and the other could possibly be Fallopia baldschuanica but the leaves are not clearly visible so I'm not at all certain. If you could show some unwilted leaves it would help. Both would have been planted deliberately. You seem to have an Ash sapling and some Pyracantha in there too. Quite a challenge. If I have misguessed the location all bets are off.
