Get a wrist splint, it's elastic with a metal strip lengthwise that will both prevent turning the wrist and supporting it when you do use it. Unsplinted elastic will permit flexing and that will slow the healing process. A folded sock placed under the wrist will make writing just a bit easier. I'd suggest taking a small tape recorder to class; if any prof complains [unlikely, but!] mention "Section 504", Fed reg which permits accommodations for short-term disabilities. Josh's idea is good, but even a month's rental can really mess up a budget. Maybe you can do an occasional trade of vehicles with someone who owns a car with AT. Most standard gear shifts will aggravate the injured muscles -- just exactly the wrong motion and pressure are required to move the shift.

Good morning all, Mr Potaohead (is that right!!). Excellent idea...I didn't think about doing it that way but your twine is nice and tight. Might try your way next year although I might go a completely different direction next year. Last year, I found that I couldn't keep up with all the suckers so I had a lot of offshoots from the main stem. I got a lot more fruit but also had to do a lot of tying of those extra stems. I'm considering a new trellis where I'll make a four corner PVC box around the outside of each set of two containers. I can build it up as the plants grow and use twine wrapped around the outside of it. Then I won't have to prune and can let the suckers grow. Your plants look excellent...good luck this year! Palmettogal, That's the beauty of this system. All you have to do is keep the reservoir full and the container wicking system and the plant takes care of the rest. The plant always has water available. But...you must keep that reservoir topped off! I tried growing tomatoes for years with mixed results and last year was the first time I grew tomatoes that had the size and taste I'd always wanted. I'm excited this year because I grew my own seeds so have lots of different varieties (hopefully) to try. You say you're done for the year already...are you in South Florida, per chance?? I'm up in the panhandle of Florida and ours is a short season also. I pull my plants by the 10th of July...too hot and muggy for the blossoms to set fruit...and the bugs get 'em no matter what you do. cheers all, Bing

Hi Trish, Yes, I built my boxes using two totes to make one earthbox clone. I mixed the lime, fertilizer and Epson salts all together and then just poured my fertilizer strip. I had some BER (blossom end rot) problems last year so I figured a little lime wouldn't hurt. I'll see how things go this year and then adjust for next year. I'm thinking I might mix a little lime in the bottom of each planting hole as opposed to mixing with the fertilizer strip. Will let you know what happens. Will post new pictures tomorrow...four weeks after transplanting. Plants are 3-4 feet tall and blossoms are setting. You can also search in this forum for "earthtainer". Raybo has taken the earthbox to a whole new level and he does a good job of taking you through his methodology for building them. I've added a couple pics of my boxes which are a pretty basic build but work great cheers Bing
