The best tea I ever had was in a tea shop in the English countryside. We had scones and clotted cream,it was raining and the walls had wallpaper with little flowers. It was chilly but warm and cozy in there. I'm not sure if the was really any better than what I usually drink but I sure thought so at the time.

Well, I believe what you say has merit. I'm a life-long tea drinker. Tea is as complex as wine, or perhaps more so since the brewing of it occurs immediately before it is imbibed.

My English SIL and I have friendly jousts about history and one fourth of July we were discussing the tea party and this nation's successful separation from English rule and he stated the price we paid for it was a decent cuppa tea. rofl.

Depending on the time of the day, I drink several kinds of tea and ending before I go to bed with a herbal one.
I was not so much thinking of the tea, as of the kinds of rain. The cozy rain is almost non-existing here, but I know it from the middle of Europe. Besides the different rains of the seasons, the rains vary by location and they even have their distinctive smell, especially after a thunderstorm. I guess the later depends on the kind of earth and vegetation present. The rain here is mostly of the sideways- driven, slashing kind.

My daughter, having been proposed to in London, tells they celebrated with wonderful hot tea after they left Westminster Abbey.

Years later, they with their daughters, celebrated just being there again and toasted with hot cups of tea in a countryside inn during a cold March rain.

The DGD's look at me aghast, as I plop a tea bag in a cup of nuked water and jerk it out again! It's much more fun to do now, just to see the looks on their faces!

They've always had made a big to-do of Tea Parties at their house, but they all agreed nothing could compare to those lovely High (and Low) Teas they enjoyed while on their family trip.

anneliese....yes, I was thinking rains instead of tea when I posted this quote, but I'll always chat about good tea. We have the gamut of rain here where I live. And, I am a fan of rain in its various guises. I love a good, whomping thunderstorm, especially the kind one gets surprised by on a sultry summer's day, or the storms around hallowe'ens.

I was never able to nap as a younger person, and the first time I remember a decadent mid-day nap was when I was enrolled in University and had a very heavy schedule that quarter. I sneaked home because I had a rare break between classes to study in peace and quiet. I lay down on a velvet chaise-longue with my books and a gentle, steady rain began and the rhythm lulled me immediately to sleep . It had to be pretty enjoyable to be a life-long memory.

I do miss the gentle spring- and summer rains of my childhood.
I am still getting rain in spring for a while, but not "that" sort of rain, and soon it will be all over until next October or so.

Now I got to go out and sow some radishes for my tea sandwich in about 4 weeks.

Usually I prefer cozy rain that pitter patter on the roof and lull me to sleep. However, at this point in time I wish for a short deluge that will wash away all the pine pollen that has been driving me nuts for the last couple of months.

Good week, we are about done with the rain here till next fall with sometimes a bit around August.
