The ads for EdenPure heaters. They make it sound so tempting and easy. Supposed to cut your heating bill and use only 1500 watts of electricity. We could use some extra heat in the basement but I'm afraid that their statements don't really compute. If I am remembering physics and electricity correctly 1 watt equals 3.4 something BTU's. I don't give a hoot how the power is generated, oil filled radiator, steam, resistance wire or other method you just can't wring more heat (BTUs) out of a watt than 3.4+.

Think I'll look into one of those ventless natural gas heaters for the basement seems that this polar weather is going to last forever, weather lady says lows tonight again about -20°, maybe up to 8 or 10 above for a high tomorrow.

Those EdenPure heaters cost nearly $500 for the 1500 watt ones. Would sure like to talk to someone that has one.
