Wildflower identification help

I live in San Patricio County, about 30 miles from the western reaches of Corpus Christi, TX. Wildflowers have started blooming with a bang and we found several examples of a flowering plant growing in a shallow ditch just down the street from us. We think it is a Blue Flax (Linum lewisii) but all of the resources we have access to tell us this plant is only found in the Trans-Pecos area and few counties in the Panhandle. I have uploaded a photo here and have a couple uploaded at Flickr (linked below).

While the photos show the flowers as having 4 petals, in fact the flowers are 5 petaled and seem to start dropping petals around one o'clock each day. Our resources say that Blue Flax drops its flowers daily, to be replaced by a new one (apparently only one flower on each panacle blooms at a time).

So what do you folks think?

Thank you so much for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Rik
