This plant was growing wild. It had neat looking seed pods.

Thanks for the advice. My first order of business will be checking up on the vendors and see who decided to take part. Already arguing with myself over how much cash I'll bring this time around. With the cold weather bound to hit us soon, I'm a bit hesitant to purchase anything, but I can't pass up a plant sale. I really need to get involved with trades and exchanges one of these days and see about saving some coin.

Kristin, welcome to the forum. This is a GREAT place for a Florida gardener, whether just starting, or an old-timer with green thumbs, hands and shoulders. You will love it here. I started here over ten years ago and have learned just about everything I know from these forums. I had a variegated pittosporum and it grew like a monster. They have very few problems and are generally very healthy. I eventually pulled it out to plant some tropicals in its spot but if you just want a big ol' healthy plant, pittosporum will fill the bill. Carol

Hi Chris,
As soon as I saw your first message, I realized it was in the malva family. That is why the seeds looked so familiar to me, lol. I looked through all the galleries, and couldn't find a match. I sent the site owner the photos, so hopefully I hear back.

The man who runs the Malvaceae site got back to me. It is Herissantia crispa. He had a professor positively ID it.
