Hi,
Guides I have found so far have not provided positive identification of this vine. Found it this year climbing a black cherry tree in the woodland behind my house.
Location: northern Illinois, edge of moist woodland
Type: climbing vine, appears to be perennial
Stem: was about 15' long, 1/2" green stem, no thorns or prickles
Leaf: alternate, simple, entire, with tendrils at base of leaf petiole, parallel veins from base of leaf
Flower: did not get to see it flower yet
Fruit: black fruit pods (starts green) in cluster with about 15-20 seeds/cluster, each on its own stem, collected seed and there are ~5 seeds/pod
Picture attached.
I have collected seeds for propagation if it is a native species. Need to ID before propagating as It will probably need to get put outside soon for a cold stratification to germinate.
