Geiger's old grocery store

1940 - 2004 - the isles were narrow, when we first moved here in 1984 the store offered very basic merchandise. They sold two brands of coffee, vegetables were tired iceberg lettuce, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and celery - oh yes, onions, too.

A variety of canned cream-of...soups, you get the picture. It was a convenience, but for our real groceries we went to Willits' big Safeway.

Eventually demand for more and more interesting food-stuff improved the stock of merchandise, but also made it more narrow and crowded.

We did get good meat from live butchers, though.

The town grew and owners (third generation) decided to build a real supermarket, it opened in 2004 and you can see it's creation behind the old store.

They did create the exact same roof-line, we all like that.
