Where can I get blackberry and rasberry seeds

I'm search through seed companies on-line. Which company sells fruit seeds.

I would like to try these for winter sowing and naturalizing the plants back into our little forest.

The traditional way to grow either is from cuttings or plants because they don't grow true from seed. From seed you could end up with crappy fruit or plants that are highly susceptible to disease. My advice would be to do some research and find out what varieties do well where you live. Then buy some plants or cuttings from a reputable source like Nourse Farms or Womack.

What kind of fruit? I'm presuming something like apples, cherries, pears and not berries or citrus?

Donnaz: Depends on whether you have disease problems. My own view is that wild blackberries and raspberries are more likely to carry diseases that spread to cultivated plants. I have been growing trailing thornless blackberries and Baba red raspberry in alternating beds along a fence for nearly 20 years. The thornless blackberries seem very resistant to any disease, and so do the Bababerries. So the individual varieties you choose, and their resistance to disease, may also be factors. You might mention the specific varieties you planted if you post again. A flat statement that these two species should not be planted within 75-100 feet of each other is just guesswork that does not take into consideration the many other factors that may affect disease transmission. Yes I know about there quality I been big buyer from then for many years I started buying when there was virous in plants at lower elvations. I call all good educater about virous they all said go high young man go high above virous. If you buy plant like triple crown some larger roots will make root cutting most plants give root cuttings. Don't plant to earily on root cuttings late spring best time watch for growth on your new planted plants when 2 inches long then plant root cutting storage in ground for root cutting not good If you plant root cutting in Dec. none come up next spring.

Living in the epicentre of the strawberry growing industry, it has been fascinating to observe the changes in cultivation methods. I used to do a bit of fruit picking seasonal work when strawberry fields featured long lines of strawbs, growing in the ground (it is all table-top growing these days, often under glass). It is always best to pick a homegrown strawberry, still warm from the sun. The best varieties are rarely offered for sale as they do not survive packaging and transport. Choosing early, mid-season and late varieties gives me a couple of months of strawberries.One of the nicest is Cambridge Favourite but I also grow mara des bois, Tenira, Cambridge Late pine (my favourite) and various alpines. I have never really gotten into ever-bearers...but I prefer summer raspberries to the insipid, but long blooming autumn varieties. O...and the tragedies known as white strawberries (urk) or those grown for their (pink and red) flowers... just nope.

Ladyrose, bramble plants are cheap and they spread really fast. I have no idea if you can start them from seeds, because nobody does it.

Buy them in bundles, not in pots from the big box store.

You will be happier in the long run if you purchase a dozen plants and plant those. You'll soon have lots of berry plants with quality fruit.

Also, that allows you to obtain varieties that are best suited to your growing conditions.

The birds will enjoy it and you might be able to do some berry picking yourself.

If your issue is that you don't want to spend any money, put an ad on Craigslist and ask for berry starts. Everyone who has brambles is digging out and throwing away many starts every year because the plants spread so fast.
