JC, I grafted 5 cherry trees last year and they all took. Just remember to rub off all the shoots below the union so the sap flow only to the scionwoods. Good luck. Tony

Its not really a sweet/sour cross, its a sour which has less sourness to it so it can more easily be eaten fresh. I have two similar ones which I have been eating lately, Jubileum and Balaton (like Danube they are red-fleshed and are Hungarian in origin). They are good but I have to say I would rather eat a sweet cherry fresh than these two, they are still best cooked. My Danube is not ripe yet but I don't recall it being much different when I tried it last year. Scott

Hello Grafters Remember... Mazzard (Prunus avium) or Mahaleb (P. mahaleb) seedlings. is used in sweet cherry growing region, Missouri is mostly zone 5 & 6, also Canada, BC is using these seedlings. Alberta is not included, [too cold in winter] these seedling would not survive here, they are rated for zone 4, we are zone 3, this is why I use the hardier Pincherry , Sour Evans Cherry , or Amur Cherry root stock. I will announce our annual scion wood exchange in a separate thread. Konrad
