Tree identification help?

Hi everyone.

I've been trying to figure out what kind of tree we've got in our backyard ever since we bought the house.

I've got some (not fantastic) pictures here - http://picasaweb.google.com/divinari/Tree#

Right now, it's in bloom. It's got tiny tiny yellow flowers that don't even look to have petals. They just look like little nectar havens. I didn't get too close, however, because the bees love the tree. The flowers are probably 2mm in diameter each. The flowers are very fragrant, especially at night.

In the fall, it has these things that look kind of like berries, but they're kind of a white-tan color, about 3-4mm in size each, in smallish clusters. You can see them in this pic if you look closely - http://picasaweb.google.com/divinari/Tree#5294601394882778914.

It started growing some what I think are suckers a month or two ago. I'm a complete novice at gardening, so I didn't really think much of it. My husband trimmed them off yesterday, hopefully it's not too much stress on the tree.

We don't really water it much, and it probably wasn't watered much while the house was unoccupied (the last year). It seems to be doing fine, though I want to get a real tree person out to trim it... I don't think it's been taken care of in a long time.

I was told by someone who may or may not know what they're talking about that it's an acacia. But, it has no thorns and the bark isn't smooth. Everything I can dig up on acacias doesn't quite match. I've used the Arbor Day identification guide and any others I could find to no avail.

I want to know what kind of tree I've got, so I can make sure I'm taking proper care of it!

Thanks.
