I'd want a minimum of 16ft for two vines but have done with less. Don't recall your other post. But I started out using the four arm Kiffen or whatever it's called. Then I decided that most of the vigor went to the two upper arms so now just go with two arms up pretty high, about 6ft. If you want more grapes on a shorter trellis I'd go with three wires. Have the canes on the middle wire and another wire on each side at the same height to spread out the canopy. Potential yield is directly correlated to the amount of sunlight intercepted. So making the canopy longer or wider will increase yield, or eating quality if you limit yield by cluster thinning.

My Crimson Seedless vine isn't PD infested at this time, and this doc gives me some some hope that it might be somewhat resistant. That said, this Summer I finger smashed a lot of sharpshooters feeding on the vine. Some days I smashed as many as 10 within an hour. This is really a shame as CS has given me super sweet grapes that are still holding well as we speak. What a heart breaker it would be to lose this vine. It seems odd/questionable that nurseries would even sell PD prone grape varieties in areas that are known to carry the disease.

I planted some Canadice table grapes recently. This is my first time to try to grow grapes. I would like to find out what kind of trellis to use. I have planted them on a sort of "island" next to my driveway. I already have raspberries and 3 small cherry trees nearby but I think my grape plant will be ok since the location gets a lot of sun. Since the location is very visible I would like to choose a trellis that looks nice. I want to buy a metal trellis and attach it to the tree next to the grapes. Most of the trellises I find are 23" wide and 72" tall. Would something like that work? If not, what kind of trellis can I use which will fit this space and look nice? Thanks so much! I'm working at a very large and good vineyard, There are several different setups there, I'll be moving wires around later next month, if you remind me then Raymondo I'll take pictures of the different setups for you and the wires positions on the posts, you really want it so you can move all the wires up and down on clips (except the main wire you tie the canes around) then you follow the vines up with two wires to hold the growth inside the row. If you get it right you wont have any trouble pruning them or keeping them growing straight. I was pruning several hundred vines a day this Winter and I'm only a beginer. I took full advantage of the job and have over 100 cuttings of most of the best eating wine varieties growing roots in the vege garden :D
