I have seen mosaic artists use broken bits of knick knacks in their work. I could see those angels flat against something (if you carefully knock off the remaining wing). I don't know enough about bondo or cement to figure out how to repair the wing using that. They are sweet. Good luck and keep us updated with pictures!

Oh, what a great find! I think they're the sweetest baby angels I ever saw! I would use them just like they are, to me part of their charm is the broken wing, that they were rescued from the trash, but I kind of like that ancient weathered look. They'd be real pretty fixed up too if that fits with where you want to put them. Either way they are beautiful!

I was offline and walking around outside and what you said about the wishing well/waterfall thing and about the angel being hollow kept going around in my head, then it finally came to me, I may have seen that type of thing, or something similar, but what I wanted to say was that they might be made of plaster or chalk and not cement- in which case they will not do good out in the rain and weather.

Awesome finds. Lucky you! If they are plaster or chalkware, I agree with G2G that they might not do too well outside in the elements. In that case, can you use them for inside planters or on a covered porch? I wonder if you used a paint-on or spray-on sealant on them they would then be alright outside. Anyone else agree or disagree with that, using the sealant?

I have tried different things to repair stuff and it all seems to work temporarily. Maybe it is the Florida sun or the humidity. The easiest thing is to nestle the broken part into a plant,tree trunk,rock or whatever.
I think they are cute too.
I have used plaster to repair plaster with good luck(SO FAR)

I found angles in the trash also, last year or early this year. Two womanly angle candle holders and an angel lamp. I think the people had had a yard sale and this is what was left at the end of the day.

Your angels are adorable and will give you much enjoyment.

I've never been on this side ,I do mosaics but I have an angel in my yard that has a broken wing,you know we all slip sometime.anyway I love her this way,I made a little sign and hung it on her "Fallen Angel".remember that song?Annie

That is so amazing to me! The angels are PRECIOUS! ! ! Did I see that you are in So.CA ? I have a daughter in Murietta! When I come to visit, I'll have to MAKE her go with me! She'd be hooked in an hour! You'lI have to tell me whether its a public place or in- front- of- homes sort of thing where you go junking! I would probably have gotten so tickled trying to get the angels out of the trash that I could 'wet my pants'! ( That's Southern Alabama Drawl, for you! LOL)
I've not found anywhere to do that sort of thing here on the Gulf coast, AL now-a days. . .Years ago, a friend & I would go behind the shopping centers and check the trash. We found all kinds of things_ pretty, fixable lamps with only slight flaws, baskets, telephone cords, sets of dishes where 1 or 2 peices were chipped or broken. We also found perfectly good, working clock radio behind the 5 & Dime Store (That was a real find then_ early 70's!) But here, now-a-days, they have those huge metal receptacles that I couldn't even reach! You'd have to bring a ladder! Besides, you can get arrested!
Maybe I should try inside the city limits on trash pick-up days !?!

whats with the angels in the trash? 3 weeks ago I was at our local landfill when some lady unloaded boxes of ceramic angels.I think I counted 75.I gave them to friends, donated to church bazaars, and kept a few.Last week another lady brought her collection while I was there. I now have 30 more.I could not stand to see them crushed in the bins.SO I now have to find someone to adopt these little pixies.Another day a lady unloaded her collection of black minstrel playerS.

I agree with momsgirl2--What's with the angels in the trash? I have a cement one in my trunk right now that I dug out of the trash at work. I also got a St. Francis cement statue. I couldn't bear to see them go to the dump. So, I've hauled them in my trunk for 2 months now! lol

Isn't it amazing what people will throw away? I suppose it is lucky for the likes of us but it irks me to no end when I see perfectly good stuff being thrown out that could just as easily be donated to a number of worthwhile charities that could resell it and use the money to help folks. Just goes to show what block heads there are out there! I can't imagine God being too thrilled about people throwing out angels. Kind of like skating on thin ice don't you think? I'd like to think folks like you make God smile when you rescue them from the trash.

They're too sweet :) I'd keep them as is. When I have things to give away, I take to a thrift store,or I have a place near my garbage cans,everyone who lives nearby knows they can take what I put there. Sometimes you have to tape a :free: sign on it :)

Well, my little one with the broken wing is now over in a broken pots area. Guess the cats or wind knocked it over. But the big one is still sitting in with some pots...goes great with it being the Christmas season. I think a lot of people who have thrown some away, have been big collectors and maybe obsessed with them and have decided that is wrong and have started to eliminate them in some way. TS are full of them.
