Christmas rummage sale finds

Hi Everyone! My brother's church has a rummage sale every year. Because he helps organize it, we always get a sneak preview! :o) We bought a bunch of cool stuff (lots of blue glass for a totem we're making!). Anyways, here are some of the Christmas items we bought...

Here's a cool, metal reindeer. Carol thinks he's kind of ugly. :o) I think he's artsy looking. :o) He was $1!

Wood snowmen and a Santa. Our 8 year old daughter loves the Santa and sleigh! (Oh, the bench it's sitting on was made by a neighbor. Pretty cool, huh?)

Finally, a wood snowman. I like the enamel pan "birdy feeder" on his head! I love enamel pans!

What awesome finds! And if you ever want to get rid of that reindeer, you have my address. he-he They had some very nice stuff at my favorite thrift store. There were two 3 foot plush snowmen that stood on the floor for $6.99 each. It was so hard walking away from them! But I don't have any room to put them let alone store them. *sniffle, sniffle*

WOW, Kirk, you got some REALLY nice things! I absolutely love the reindeer! Like you said...it's artsy. And those little snowmen are too sweet!

I have metal candle "bags" with snowflake cutouts. I keep forgetting I have them! I need to bring them up from the basement, before I forget to put them out again this year! I have dragonfly bags for summer that I also keep forgetting about. Can you say...too much stuff?!! Mine don't have handles though and are all the same design. Yours are great!

It's hard to believe Christmas is almost here already. If only I could keep caught up!

Sorry....but they are cheap, often made in Italy sometimes thinly silver plated but more often not, just made of a metal that takes being cast well. sold as "decorative" items, intended to hand in those spoon displays. Likely they are newly introduced to the jewelry store box, just for storage....or to sell them. The knife has no edge does it? And they probably were not intended to go together....just happen to be sold together.

I have had experience with it. Generally team fundraising is going to go to the team. Be it you sell ads for the tournament book or you have a bake sale; you generally just can't divide it. If you want to have a garage sale with just some families from the team for money, then do that but don't call it a team fundraiser. The biggest problem is getting the families to agree to get on board. First, you do have to make sure the families want to participate and need the money. You can't assume everyone wants to do something or wants to do a rummage sale but if you get enough help, you should be able to run with it. (You will probably never get 100% participation). To start you need to set an event and date choices (but only give them 2 choices or everyone will be fighting) go with the choice that gets enough votes. Send out an email: Hi all, We are considering hosting a rummage sale to bring in money to help defray costs for the boy's hockey team. I have checked out locations and availible are April 15 or April 23rd. Please email me back by Monday to let me know which date will work best for you (we will go with the date that gets the most votes). Since the money is going to the team we hope to have 100% participation. I will send a signup email later with different shift and work opportunities to divide up the work and help make this sale a success. (When you get responses back, you should be able to tell if your event will be a go or not... you will either get most people emailing you back with a date preferance, or you will get emails saying..."what, the???....we can't do that. Why didn't we vote. We can't help at all, etc....") You should be able to tell from the responses if enough people will be willing to help or not. But you need to organize and lead them if they seem willing. Don't do all the work yourself. If not enough people sign up to help (on your work delegated sign-up sheets), then cancel the event early on. If workers get sick, etc it is up to them to find a replacement, not you. You need to organize and delegate, not do it all -- if others don't want to help, then don't do it.

Wow, what a haul you made, Teeda! Thanks for sharing your finds with us. Your lamp and bowl are scrumptious. The little dog figurine reminds me of one my mother had saved from her childhood and gave to my son. He was a popular cartoon when she was a child which would now be about 85-90 years ago. So yours may be from about that era -- just a guess.

Kirk I agree about the reindeer. I like him. I wish we had sales like that around here. The bench needs to be in TN tho. Now that is nice.. The birdie feeder is a double your money deal. Good finds.

Is that reindeer copper? I like it, except for the bells on it's antlers, lol! Don't let someone steal it for scrap metal!I like the lumiarias,too, I'm like Sandy, I have 3 I forgot about til now. White painted ones, graduated sizes, with heart cut-outs. The snowman with the pan on it's head is unusual to me, I like it!

Oh WOW, what an amazing haul you made. That does it...I'm moving in with you guys to go shopping. Does Olivia have bunkbeds? LOL.
The reindeer is wonderful, and I really like the metal candle tin with the reindeer a lot too. And the fact you got a BEAR one for you!
The wood items are GREAT, espeically the Pot Headed Snowman.
He's totally adorable.
