OH MY!!!! YOU'VE MADE ONE OF THOSE PIECES THAT HAVE THAT INDUSTRIAL ARTSY LOOK. I can also see it as an Angel. I can also imagine it as an outstretched falcon on an American Indian Totem pole. Hundreds of years from now when they excavate and find that, it will be explained as a sundial that forcasted the weather when Jupitor is in Pluto's moon axis! LOL GREAT WORK!!!!

Gorgeous!!!! Are the masonry pieces man-made? and......how did you get those pieces to look so shiney? Do you polish them with wax, or spray them with a coating?

Linda the cement is cast. I pour several small containers and then search for the best shape. The coloration is my secret (ha ha ha). Actually I try almost anything to find the color I want - my work table is lined with bottles of paints, dyes, colored powders, sparkles, metal filings - anything that might work. I think I've tried it all. Anyway once I take the form from the mold it goes through a series of grinding, filing, sanding, rubbing with steel wool, and finally wet/dry 1500 grit emery paper. If the finish has any pits, cracks, or surface blemishes left I paint the form with a spray paint wait for it to cure and sand off all the surface paint leaving the "uglys" filled in with paint. The last step is rubbing with wax but if I still can't get the finish I want - I strip the wax spray with a sealant and re-wax, each piece takes about two weeks from start to finish.

I got another iturp. when I logged back in. It also looks like a crucifix. The chrystal in the belly would symbolize the Holy Spirit.

I love it because of it's multi facited inturp. possibilities. That is how you know you have created a piece that is Gallery Worthy.

I have no formal art training at all. I simply experiment like a child with a lot of toys.
The underlying drive to this whole artistic fixation is the peace I achieve only when I am working on a project: at that time there is nothing else. Of course all the kind words from the wonderful, creative people on this forum are appreciated immensely.

Ugh! A typo. That should be "a huge 8 inches tall."

I love it! I have a book on creating things out of concrete and one of my favorite projects in the book is a bench made with a mold made from sheets of foam cut out to the shape of the seat and two big plastic tote bags for the legs. The writer mixed bits of tumbled glass of different colors into the off-white concrete mix. Then she polished it until it glowed. Loved the effect of the embedded glass and the polishing!

Your castings look like polished stone and match beautifully with the gear and the redwood. Love the touch of the crystal too.

Your creations should be in a gallery, or at least art shows. Hopefully your work is getting out there somehow. A true artist. You should command top dollars for your art.

You're ability to mix different 'mediums' to create order and balance is the highlight of your creative genious. You're pieces not only capture one's attention, but holds it. You have a rare talent, and like what the others said, you're work deserves to be seen (and sold) in a gallery.

Agree with everything said. Never thought of putting wax on concrete. I put bowling alley wax on my finished decoupage projects, might try it on the concrete.
Have you enough to have a show? You should approach a local gallery I think.
