LOL Micke, deja vu..I think most of our spouses wish they brought blindfolds when we go shopping..LOLOL We went to Walmart last night..they had a little rock-like planter w/3 types of Tills inside..no price..so I brought up front for a price ck, they wanted 12,99..not worth it..so we left Walmart empty-handed..then we went food shopping..lol..of course, looked at the plants, and wouldn't u know it, they had 1 Oyster plant in a 4" pot..I already have a small one, so figured I'd plant the two together. Every so often, something different shows up. Pepperomia, Aralia's need to dry between waterings..did u overwater? Was soil too heavy? Yep, you're right they are called Balfour Aralias, but depending on their shape (type) they have a second name like Fabian, Dinner Plate which has huge, round leaves..I picked up a pretty Aralia at HD a couple wks back..it's mostly yellow w/round leaves..Toni

This is a Kawasaki FJ180V engine, right? If so, it's a fixed jet with no mixture adjusting screw. But my experience with this engine support's Bill's theory that the needle/seat is stuck slightly open by something lodged in it. I had one of these engines, and had the opposite problem: a teensy spec of dirt clogged up the main jet and caused lean surging. One thing I always suggest is to add an inline filter to any engine to prevent issues such as this. This isn't a problem specific to Kawasakis - any engine could have these problems and it's pretty easy to get dirt and dust in the fuel tank. BTW, another thing that causes poor seating of the needle in the seat would be a saturated/leaking float. I can't remember what the floats on these are like, but chances are it's a black plastic float that may be filled with foam. If it has let fuel leak into it, it may no longer float.

I went to Home Depot and looked at a new Lawn Boy to see what I think you were writing about. At Home Depot it looks like a metal cap with sides inside the bottom of the spark plug black rubber boot. I also looked in my boot with a magnifying glass and it looks like only a round flat piece of metal in the boot with no sides. So does this require a new boot or can this still be fixed somehow by a novice like me? Would a hose clamp on the outside of the boot work or would this be dangerous? The last time I mowed, I attached a big black metal binder clip from my local Staples store over the boot which worked and held on the boot but think a hose clamp would hold better. Any idea how much money this repair would be at a shop? Again, thanks for any help. Al

The lawnboy is likely the same plug and the gap is .030" on each. If the LB had an OHV /OHC (overhead valve/ cam- it would be stamped on a tin cover on the front of the engine) then we would need to know more info.
