My Cat House!!!!!

I was tired of my husband leaving the garage door open all day and night just for our cat to come and go as she pleased. I finally convinced him it was NOT safe. The cat cannot come inside since he is allergic but we both love her and I have rescued her twice from death(another story)

Anyway we have a screened porch that the dog has his own made a doggy door by poking a hole in.I figured she could get in and out of the rain that way. Instead she chose the front porch where I had this old doll house. I bought it at a garage sale and only have grandsons.Actually I have bought three dollhouses and the grandsons do play with one of them.

This one I left on the porch as its flat top made a nice table. Anyway, Kitten Little decided it was perfect for her and managed to take the entance door jam and door off and utilize it as her own. It has four rooms!

I love it. Not every home can say they have a 'cat house'. LOL, as she grows you will have to take the walls down.

That is too cute. Smart little girl to have such a lovely house of her own. She has beautiful patterns on her coat by the way. I love cats.

Yes, if you go the insulin route, a glucometer would be a must. Our first one-year insulin treatment went very well with only occasional fructosamine tests, and NOT a single accidents. The second time around, 8 years later (same cat), that was a very expensive 6-month experience with 2 glucose curves at first, then monthly fructosamine tests (strangely enough, the diagnosis was based only on a regular blood test and urine analysis, not fructosamine --big mistake; wish we had not rushed into insulin) and regular adjustments to the amount of insulin. His glucose level had gone down so much-around 50, that FINALLY one of the vets decided to take him off insulin. Had we been shown how to use a glucometer (and if you already give insulin injections there is nothing to using one), our cat would have had better days (and our wallet too!). But, this is the same vet who was so reluctant to show us how to administer fluids at home (loss of easy money for them). Still convinced our cat had kidney problems from the start, and not diabetes. Sorry if I tend to go back to my personal experience. Diabetes is very manageable as long as you have a good vet and you are well informed. Another thing about canned food: avoid foods with sugar content (potatoes, carrots, fruits).. Go for high, quality protein. Best of luck, Anne-Marie

From what you describe this is something he has always done??? You have removed him from the company of his companions and he is calling for them! Some cats are just very vocal so you may not be able to quieten him down completely.You might try Rescue Remedy to calm him down.He could still be stressed from the move and the other "strange" animals in the house.Don't know what else to tell you.Good luck:)

So what if you go through the list, and are still having problems? Because our 3 year old cat was so playful, and we thought it would be nice for him to have a buddy, we adopted a 2 year old neutered, declawed male cat from an animal shelter. After their initial adjustment, they seemed to get along well. The new cat was never very affectionate with us (our first cat is), but I don't think that's all that unusual. All was well for a few months, then the new cat started pooping outside the litterbox. My vet said he had colitis, and gave him some prescription food to try, which worked well - I kept him on the prescription food, and he always pooped in the litterbox from then on. A few months later, though, he started occasionally peeing on our beds. Thinking it was another medical issue, I took him to the vet a couple more times. He didn't find any medical issues - said it was most likely behaviorial, and gave us some Feliaway and advice similar to the above article. We had two litterboxes, and both were in the laundry room (upstairs). I could imagine that the location and/or noise might be an issue, or maybe privacy (our bedrooms are all upstairs), so I bought two additional litterboxes - one for the main floor (covered), and one for the basement (uncovered). I scooped all litterboxes daily, changed litter, tried different brands, etc. He continued to pee on the beds, and then later started peeing on our leather furniture, and carpet. I ended up returning him to the animal shelter, but have always felt terrible about it. I know that being a good pet owner means that you are willing to spent a certain amount of time and money when necessary, but after paying for several trips to the vet, Feliaway, replacing mattress pads, carpet pad, sections of subfloor, pillows, and buying gallons and gallons of Nature's Miracle and Urine-Off, I just reached my limit. Thank goodness for our first cat, or my confidence as a cat owner would be completely gone. Still, I don't think I will ever get another cat - I feel horrible that our second cat's behavioral issues were just beyond my capacity. Every time I see an article like this, I read it and think, did I do all I could? One of the most frustrating experiences I have had.

I must add that Kitten Little is no kitten just the size of one! She is about 10 and was born dead. I revived her and the mother refused to care for her.She was a runt and has stayed small.I would hold the mama down and make her nurse.Then my dog would nurture her and allow her to fake nurse. When she was older my daughter married and moved to the country so ahe took KL. My daughter left the abusive situation and weeks later we went back to rescue KL she had been used as target practice and was pencil thin. Daisy dog got so excited when we brought her home she licked her and cleaned her ears like old times.Drs wouldnt give her shots as they said she wouldnt last a week. I fed her cream and salmon til she was fat enough to get treatment and surgery on shotgun holes in her paws. I decided allergies or not, Kitten Little is home to stay!

Ohhhh...this just made my day!! I love the whole story of Kitten Little. How very cute! Now she needs a little sign over the door with her name on it. chuckle

And...she does have beautiful markings!

I'm a kitty person too. I have three. One all white long-haired is 18 and totally blind; another big, short-haired grey who had his teeth cleaned 2 weeks ago...and now won't eat any dry food, so is going back to the vet this afternoon; and the third is a big, very fluffy, long-haired tiger who gets into absolutely everything! Her last adventure?...dumping a full, large mug of coffee...on my almost white carpet! Oh well...you gotta love 'em!!

Oh and I promise I was not raising kitties. The mother was dumped at my house pregnant of course. I totally believe in spaying and neutering but it was a little late at that point.We found homes for all the others.

little ole kitten little....
This story is just what I needed TODAY!.... yet I will always remember and treasure the house, the birth and the life of this little miss.... and the owner.... I believe God knew we all need our pets and family and of course the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees!

Goldenpond, you have a great heart. Theres not alot of people who care very much about cats. I think you really have to be a "cat" person to even have 1. I'm very much a cat person, I rescued #9 about a month ago. Hes become my Chihuahuas best friend. I love the dollhouse idea, very cute! What happened to the people who shot KL? Well, if the law didn't get them maybe karma will!

What a beautiful kitty, and a very touching story.I love the picture of Daisy "nursing" KL. I'm really glad your daughter got away from that abusive relationship. I think that anyone who hurts animals can't possibly be kind to people either. Thank you for sharing this story!

I'm allergic to cats, too, but I couldn't NOT take in a cat with KL's history. A very special story. I agree with the poster above that your 'cat house' needs a name. Daisy is a special dog as well.

how sweet - yes put a Kitten Little sign on her home and put a street sign on the side saying Daisy Way or Circle or something to honor Daisy also.
