John Deere JS40 mowing problem

wilcountry

I bought a John Deere JS40 self propelled mower several years ago (2007) after our year old Troybilt self propelled rear wheel drive mower decided to stop propelling itself (cracked actuator lever on the fiber gearbox). Anyhow, bought the JD as it was "the better mower". Self propel works great and climbs our hillside with ease.

However, since it was taken out of the box, every time I cut grass, the discharge shoot constantly clogs up (even in drought conditions) and requires constant stopage to clean it out. Bagging is NOT even a remote possibility. Blade is sharpened every spring but that doesn't seem to help the issue. Grass clogs the discharge and will eventually stall the engine. Anyone else have this problem with this mower? Any suggestions? Thanks

Brian
