new toro snowblowers with mtd china engine?
Comments (3)Those Toro snow blowers are built by MTD who supplies the engine. With Tecumseh out of the picture, Briggs and Stratton is the only North American manufacturer of snow engines and many of those are made in the Chinese plant. Best get used to it. I work in the outdoor power equipment industry at the distribution end, was in the retail service side for quite a few years. I am really glad to be out of the shop, there is no way I could make a decent living today. Too much of the equipment is disposable. The components are not rebuildable or there is nothing available for parts. Stop by the dumpster on the way to the box store for a replacement....See MoreKohler engines
Comments (3)I want to say 27HP for LT's but, Kohler makes varity of small engines. I would just goto Kohlerengines.com and sort through the different series of engines that may interest you....See MoreKohler engine problem
Comments (2)You've got a good handle on things. As long as you will be replacing the fuel line, filter etc- go ahead and buy a carb kit. You are correct that the debris in the float valve chamber likely made it leak, but replace the valve whilst you are there to be sure or at least if it shows worn. The bowl seals should be in the kit- some had 2 bowl seals on top- though one is really a baffle and goes below the ring. You can go to the Kohler site, log in as guest and have access to parts look up and service manuals at no cost. The black stuff could be a deteriorated fuel line or other part or who knows. I ran into gobs of stuff inside of one Kohler twin that I never did identify. This stuff was shellac like but water soluble if I recall. The important thing is to make it go away. Go get 'em......See MoreKohler CH22 engine surging problem
Comments (1)Water damage is sometimes irreversible. As far as the body goes and and jets within, maybe a bath in an ultrasonic cleaner would help. You also want to know that no crud made its way from the tank to the carb and you should also check for the presents of a vacuum leak.I don't work on enough horizontals to know these by heart. Post back the spec # as well....See Moreskane1
