My LawnBoy(10323) is in the shop but a loaner was given to me for use and it is a snapper CP21400R2 and except for the staggered wheels of the LawnBoy-which makes it turn more easly, this Snapper seems to be great. Question: are any 2 cycle lawn mowers available anywhere new? I hope to get my 10323 back and running and this loaner is not for sale. What can I do about getting a backup 2 cycle self propelled? Thanks to an earlier member's help with boreing out my Lawnboy carb-it made all of the difference in the world. The latest link about putting Locltite to hold the jet in place may be my problem now with the LawnBoy in the shop.

Just wanted to chime in, I've had a model 10323 since 98 or so and it ran pretty decent for many years though always had a lean surge most of you speak of but cutting through the grass it would power through well.. One thing I did last year was changed out the plug with an E3 plug from Lowes and that made a noticeable difference, not quite as bad but I knew it could run better. A couple of weeks ago the surge got worse, cleaned out the carb which looked pretty good but found the pilot jet (under the sticker) clogged, in the meanwhile I found this thread and went ahead picked up some bits at Hobbytown USA ($21) and did the jet bore out mod as mentioned and it is a totally different machine! As jarall described unleashing a monster, no friggin joke! It felt so good I wanted to cut the whole neighboorhood! This baby is good for another 20+ years the way its running, have another of the same model I acquired when I found out 2 strokes were no more. Would be nice if they would bring 2 strokes back with a simple fuel injection, there is 2 stroke technology supposedly that is cleaner than existing 4 strokes, or how about a small clean diesel? I know I'm dreamin, I wont need another lawn mower for the rest of my life, dont think this thing is breakable.

There are several things to check on your Duraforce. The slow governor response can be partially caused by the rubber hose from the primer bulb rubbing the air vain. Careful routing and using the little "double holed" plastic hose clamp will solve the rubbing problem. (This plastic hose "brace" holds the fuel line and the primer line out of harms way.) Rejetting has absolutely nothing to do with the age of the mower or how much it has been used. If your engine dies at low speed the low speed jet is probably stopped up. It can be removed without removing the carb. It's under the sticker on the side of the carb. The fuel flows through it from the bottom up then out the side of the jet. The top part of the jet hole is plugged off and not used. Use a wire to clean the jet and check it by spraying some carb cleaner through it with a little plastic tube that comes with the carb cleaner or replace the jet with the larger jet.

I came across this post when I was troubleshooting a 10525 that a neighbor was having trouble starting. I was skeptical but I thought I would try the sanding off the rust and baking trick to ressurect her non-functional coil. Sure enough, it worked. Upon reassembly, the thing started up on the first pull. I knew that my fix might be temporary unless I did something to keep moisture from getting in the coil again so I took it off again and sprayed it with a couple coats of clear acrylic lacquer spray paint after masking the contacts. Only time will tell if this results in a somewhat lasting fix. If it doesn't last, I'll just have to order a 99-2911 replacement coil to get it fixed. Local prices for that part are around $40. subpar - Did you do anything to try to keep the coil waterproofed? If not, that may be worth trying the next time you bake it. ~Irish
