Springfield, OH Antique Flea Mkt.

Is anyone attending the Springfield OH Antique Flea Mkt. next weekend? Or, has anyone ever attended? My junking buddy and I are going for the first time. Can hardly wait!

Thank you all for your continued inspirations here. I've been really, really busy with work and only have a little time to take a quick peek once or twice a week.

You're inspirations are the best!

Ooohhh...have a great time! We had a blast at the one in Virginia a few weeks ago....make sure to take lots of cash! ;-)

Jane, I was at the fair the past week so fell behind here. Alot going on in my world lately. So much to take care of and right now I'm just tired. This energizer bunny's batteries are ready for a Charge!LOL We talked to some of our friends at the fair and they have never been to Las Vegas. So the four of us are planning a trip to Vegas next spring. We haven't been on a trip together for 9 years and we decided it's time! My DF's haven't been feeling well so I've been helping them clean and paint. However, she just brought 5 qts of fresh canned tomatoes and fresh peaches to me today at the office. She uses tomato juice to add to the tomatoes instead of water and they are sooo good! They also did a phone run to our other office for me which saved me an hour of running. They are just the sweetest people and I love them so much. Tell DD I love her jeep and I bet she looks good in it! They had the new Jeeps set up across from us at the fair. I didn't look close cuz I was lucky and found another set of new chrome wheels and tires to fit my escalade a few weeks ago at a ys. The guy bought them two months prior and then decided to marry a gal with 5 kids. He thought the money would be put to good use so decided to sell them for $500. Dishes are calling so best get to it. Sorry I took so long in replying here..I had lots of errands today. Thank You All, for such nice compliments. I'm so glad you liked what you saw. I'm still fiddeling around with the correct lighting on my camera. The color in my pictures, is still a little washed out. Anyway... ncnana..It took me awhile to find the right places to shop for the right prices. I spent many a Saturday bargain hunting at all sorts of sales..mainly out of necessity!! lol kathleen...that's a nice idea with using Greens for Christmas. I do usually use this cabinet around the holidays. I display my Halloween/Christmas things. With this new look...I might be thinking differently on how to set it up. phonegirl.. My first piece was many years ago. It's a large platter with a Thanksgiving scene on it...I got it at an auction for $4. It's very old and,is in the Hutch w/another small dish in front of it. As far as all the Old Britian Castles...I started this past year. My first 'Big' score was last winter in an old shop. I got several pieces -Large Bowls, cereals, cups & saucers..and small plates for $20! That got me going. Then on Ebay, during the Summer, when it was slow, I got some good deals on the Platters. Little by little I started finding more pieces. I've got about 15 plates now besides other pieces. I'd love to get the S&P and a gravy boat. Karen..I'm lucky DH likes to 'make' things. He likes to keep busy..even before he was retired he was always 'puttering'...from Rennovating our Old House...to Furniture, to Boats, to Toys and many Board Games. By the way...this wasn't his line of work.. he calls it therapy!! I guess it keeps him out of trouble!! lol betty...I know, You & I are Blue & White Gals...but once I got a glimps of the Red in someone's china cabinet..I started getting 'pangs'!! I agree with Jay...I'm so happy you can 'Enjoy Looking At Him' - ALL you want...What joy to know that there will be many great days ahead, to plan for that new Hutch together! mrsmarv..nora..Welcome!! I used to live in Lower Westchester now I'm in CT. We have lots of Family in the Hopewell/Stormville Area. Do you know the Pastry Garden Bakery? It's family owned. Small world..huh? Also, we've been going to Stormville Flea Mkt...since it's beginnings. I was just there for the Ultimate Yard Sale..(see my earlier post)..where I'm 'Sharing The Experience' with everyone here. I love that place!! When you say you work for WCSD...is that Westchester County? Once again, Welcome, and I hope to see more of you here..everyone is Very Friendly. YOu get lots of great ideas for not only Holidays but for Everyday. syble...Break Out That Blue Willow and Show It Off..Come On Now....we'd Love for you to share it with us. I have to say, I'm a Big Fan of ALL that you show here..and the fact that we all share such different tastes and ideas.. really makes this site so interesting and fun. Luvs...I'm laughing that you feel the same about finding more space to 'squeeze' things in. Sometimes I just sit here and look around to see if I'm missing a 'Spot' to add something! Betty's right ...Downsizing is Not in our Vocabulary!! jay...I'll pass the compliments on to DH..he'll enjoy that. I agree with you, Mrsmarv needs to Share pics of her goodies with us...lol Mo...what I use to hold the platters and plates in place, is tacky stuff, almost like a playdoah. I put a tiny amount on the back of the platter,(and sometimes on the bottom of the plate) and press it in place. It's extremely strong and stays in place until I remove it. cindylouhoo...Sometimes it's hard to decide what to use when you have too much!! lol I did lots of bargain hunting when I was in my first home, out of necessity (lack of money). I do find that I'm more selective now with what I buy, because of having too much and not enough space. I do 'weed out' things every now and then..sometimes with regret!! Wow...where to begin.. Karen..thanks for the compliments and for adding my pics to the Christmas Album..I'm honored.. love2weed..This for me, was an early snow..It's nice to have right before Christmas tho. But once it's over, I'm looking towards spring, and 'weeding' ...lol pdg..thank you..as I said to love2weed, snow is nice for the holidays..then >>> COME ON SPRING!! contrary grow..thanks for the compliments..that red door does work nicely for Christmas, and yep, the snow is an added bonus for sure!! lol shee..glad you liked the skates and sled..as for the china cabinet..not looking 'junkie'.. I'm always arranging and rearranging, esp during holidays, and try not to get it too busy..some times I take pics so I don't forget after I've arranged it just so!! lovesummer...just your name alone, makes me pine for the summer, right after New Years!!.. My original sleds, I unfortunately gave away too, however, we did find these at Flea Mkts.. I know what you mean about kids today not thinking these are 'cool' to use anymore..Great for us to use as decos tho!! lol mo..thank you...Glad you liked the B&W...they took me many yrs of Bargain hunting - tag sales - estate sales - flea mkts..I love them too and never tire of them. sandi..that wagon was a great find. Great Job. I first read a bit of the story (yea, way too long... psych!) and just opened the link and I went "where is the mosaic?" Then I went back to the story and tried to figure out what you did. And then back to the picture. Very good job. I wish there was a BEFORE pic with the lamp. :)

So, I haven't been, but I've thought about it! Where are you located? You'll probably go right past me on your way there!!! I'm just a bit west of Dayton.
I'm afraid I would get there and find all kinds of treasures and not be able to afford them!!!
I am planning to go the the flea market in Eaton, tomorrow morning, and find lots of cheap wonderful goodies!!!

We used to go to the flea market in Kenton before they skipped last year & changed the date & rules this year. We'd like to find something to go to that's far enough away, yet not too terribly far.

I'd love to go to the Country Living magazine in Columbus, OH too. Too bad I'm all the way here in Wisconsin. One of these days I'm going to make it to the Junk Bonanza in Minnesota too.

I'm going. We've been there twice before and had a great time and bought some great items too.

Although this one is actually closer, I thought the Country Living Show is awfully expensive without having some wonderful recommendations from people I can trust.

I'd like to go to the Country Living Show also. And, went last year to the Junk Bonanza. That was a really neat show, small but really nice things and great ideas too. But, seeing the Springfield show is the same weekend, I decided to catch it instead. Hope to find lots of garden treasures! I'll let you know what I find. Keep those inspirations coming!

Gee I wish I was going, too! OH and the rest of the midwest has some really great antique/junk flea mkts. You just don't see much of that sort of thing down here and I really miss it.

Luna and other WI and IL people- have you ever been to the Antique Flea Mkt at the fairgrounds in Elkhorn WI? DH and I used to sell (and buy) there when we lived up that way, back before the "turn of the century", lol. I wasn't even sure they still had them so I googled it and sure enough theres one more this year on Sept. 26. Also Kane Co Fairgrounds in St. Charles, IL someone mentioned a while ago. I see they have a sale comming up Oct 2 and 3. These are big flea mkts with indoor and oudoor dealers and a lot of fun. It's the antique 'shows' that get $$$. Heres the links if anyone's intersted. It looks like I missed the last of the Elkhorn flea markets. Ack! I'll have to remember it for next year. I have been to the one in Cedarburg and St. Martins. Both had some great stuff. I can't wait until November when a friend's church in Sheboygan has a humongous rummage sale. After 2:00, a cartload of stuff is $5. We always load up on lots of junk. Hopefully with the new house I'll be able to actually do something with the awesome stuff I have accumulated.

I've been so busy at work, I forgot to follow-up with you on our trip! It was one of the BEST shows I've ever attended. We attended Sat. & Sun. However, we were surprised that they charged $3 per person as you drove in! But, at least we had great bathroom facilities and we really appreciated that.

Many vendors were packing up on Sat. afternoon to go to a KY flea mkt. So, Sunday, there weren't a lot of people but still found a couple more treasures. I was happy that dealers were anxious to barter. Many would make a lower offer before we even said anything. My hunts were for old bird cage hangers as I like to use them to hold my hummingbird feeders & bird houses throughout my gardens. Found 2!

Came home with a cute little vintage wire table (funky green color)perfect for my bath, old black iron cigarette stand for my husband, and an adorable metal coffee stand on 4 wheels. Didn't need any of these, but just couldn't leave without them!

Many, many great ideas too. Several vendors had transformed old furniture that was just beautiful. There was something for everyone that was for sure. My friend and I had the back of my Escape packed with treasures!

We were told too that the one in May is exceptional! Wear comfortable shoes as we walked and walked and walked. Couldn't see everything in one day - but we sure tried!
