You only need to spray once in my experience to control bunch rot or whatever rot we tend to get here on grapes in the northeast (not an important crop to me although managing them is a small part of my job). I don't think it will work for tomatoes- chlorathalinal is the stuff for them although it is considered a more dangerous compound. Montery Fungus Fighter is better than myclobutanil for brown rot on peaches- I forget the actual name of the compound that's in it- same stuff as Orbit. Chlorathalinal is good for peach scab. For peaches I'd recommend a chlor spray about 6 weeks before expected harvest and then MFF 2 weeks later if the label lets you use chlor that close to harvest.

A fungicide will not reverse the mold but could prevent further infection. I am not sure which fungicide you consider unfriendly, but you can make your own Bordeaux mixture, which will work well. Al

Thank you - I appreciate all advice given. The locals have great grape vines -they constantly keep them pruned back - so they never need a saw. This is a case of years of neglect. It has run amok. I see a thick web of old wood latticed. It is obvious it was once established & pruned. Now I thought I'd cut out just one branch at least 50 ft long (ending far beyond the abour) & then Prune any lighter stuff above the supporting structure. & then pick another woody branch to cut back again this time next year. but that's just because I am a coward. What I would like to do is cut it back to its basic 'Y' leaving between 2-3ft (one left one right) I will take cuttings from the far end (of the branch I am removing) -so I can establish another in the future too. Does that sound ok?

Thank you both for the info! I have never sprayed grapes before, this is new to me. I have 3 seedless grape vines climb on a big gazebo (photo1), and 1 seeded grape vine climb on a small gagezo(photo2), I can't reach a lot of the grapes on the big gazebo roof (15-16' tall), birds eat most of the seedless grapes on top, I shared seedless grapes which I could reach and seeded ones (birds won't eat those) with neighbors and their grandkids every year until last year the black rot showed up. The seeded grape vine has less damage than the seedless ones for some reason. I will spray all of them in the spring. The only way I can collect mummies is to cut the vines down. I am thinking about planting rambler roses to cover the top and keep the grapes within reach up to 8' tall. If I cut down the vines to the ground this fall, will I get any grapes next year? Thanks I just read the Smal Fruits and Grape Spray Guide, it listed sulfur for black rod. I have 40lb sulfur, I use sulfur mix with dish soap for Powdery Mildew and black spots on roses! :-) Have anyone tried with sulfur spray for black rot?
