Honda GC crossthreaded spark plug

Well, I finally screwed up (though how much of a screw up has yet to be determined). The long threads on the N9YRC plug, and the narrow spot between muffler and carberator led me to a nasty little dilemma.

The plug now only goes in about two turns before it gets obvious.

Researching on the web has led me to a few products to fix this. The one I am MOST interested in seems to be a tapered reverse thread tap. Insert it (unexpanded) into the bottom of the spark plug hole (where the threads are good), expand it to engage those 'good' threads and turn it out of the hole, using the good threads as a guide to re-cut the damaged ones at the top. It has a 'knob' at the base that one applies grease on to catch errant shavings. I'd really prefer to avoid a helicore.

Any experience with this tool? Best place to get one? And I assume I'd have to get the correct size for my spark plug. Any advice beyond this?

thanks in advance....
