Toro smokes a lot all of a sudden

I've got a 5 or 6 year old Toro. I tipped it over to take the blade off for sharpening as I do every spring. I must say that I tend to tip it to the spark plug side, that is, the left wheel side for this mower, if that means anything. As I say, I've done it the same way for years. The mower was running perfectly before I did this.

I tipped it over, took the blade off and spent half an hour sharpening the blade. When I went back to the mower there was oil all over the deck leaking out of the intake filter housing. I cleaned the intake as best I could and installed a new air filter. I filled the crank case with 10W5 oil to between the add and full line. Start it up and thick white smoke from the exhaust. Black fly fogging type smoke.

I tried running it several times for up to five minutes at a time and then letting it cool down a bit between runs. It's still blowing smoke though.

Screwed it completely, stuck valve or just let it burn out and fade away?

Thank you in advance.

Greg.
