Bowling Bowl with Tricycle Planter

This was my first attempt to make Bowling Ball art. I had seen it on this forum and wanted to try one myself.

Someone gave me stained glass that she no longer wanted as well as some of those glass pebbles. I found the pieces that most resembled flower petals (I didn't have a glass cutter at the time) and I just glued away. I had pink grout left over from the bathroom and the planter used to house a plant. the plant never did well, but the bowling ball makes a great color statement.

I was both pleased and encouraged to try more.

Sherri, That is very adorable. Those fine bowls must be a fortune. I have a set similar from a yard sale but they are not that bright and appealing. The small tools are at Hobby Lobby in the doll house miniature section. And the tiny terra cotta pots are also there in the flower/vase department (I bought them last week for my outdoor garden houses project). The wheel barrow looks like a vintage piece and I haven't seen those retail yet. Let us know if you find them retail!!!! I love the sheet moss too. Come on Junkers we can make these. Painting shouldn't be necessary, but do clean the ball well to remove any oils. Some folks sand their balls lightly to give it some "tooth". I covered one with half marbles using silicone II last Summer and it survived intact through a harsh Michigan Winter. Have Fun and be sure to post pics!

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful compliments. I was happy with how he turned out. My husband rolled his eyes at my project until I showed him what I was trying to do and then he started helping me find the things I needed to do this right. Still keeping an eye for a plant stand but also like the froggy in my cement planter. Does anyone know what kind of paint I would need to paint the cement planter? I did the eyes with the tea light holders. Someone else on this board did a frog bb and I loved it. She used the glass tea light holders but I couldn't find those but the dollar store had the metal holders. So i painted the tin holder and glued an eye in it that I bought at Hobby Lobby. I forget what department the eyes were in but they had all kinds of sizes and these big ones were perfect for this. Wish I had grand kids but not yet! I adore kids but my son is only 22 and daughter is 15. They better wait to have kids!!!! Mindy

PRETTY IN PINK!! Love the pink grout o your BB! That is just a reminder to us all that sometimes we can make beautiful art out of what we have on hand. Thats the beauty of garden junk!You done a wonderful job of arranging your glass pieces, too. The flowers are so cute! Great job!!

Love your trike-n-pink! I have the same trike planter on top of my armoire in the bedroom. I love the scroll iron work. Your pink BB adds that little bit of glam that all pieces desire.

I bought the Tricycle several years ago at a moving sale. I used to put a flower pot with flowers in it. The flower pot was too small to hold much moisture so the plants never did well.

I was trying to find a spot for my bowling ball and realized that this was just the right size. Sometimes you just have to look around at what you've already got on hand and there is your solution.
