Vintage Playground Garden

I have started a new garden project this past week.

And of course I had to find some more treasures for my new beds...

The Tonkas we have had for ages, and the little bike was free for the taking at my local thrift store dumpster.

Skates and planter pots about 5$.

The Radio Jet I picked up last summer for a few dollars..

Will post more pics as the garden developes...

Great idea. I have a childrens garden too!! they are fun to collect for.

They are quite different. SGMC looks more or less like a very very large and vigorous form of R. moschata, which blooms continuously. It is a vigorous, arbor-eating climber. With a large arbor, flanked by two trellises, it makes a "wall" of roses here, with a gate in the middle, protecting a shade garden. We rarely prune it hard, and it is blooming now. A cheerful sight and scent on a chilly, gloomy, rainy day. Secret Garden Noisette, by contrast, is a double bloom, in the style of Blush Noisette. Used to visit Grangers and buy from them in the 1980’s when i had my violet business. closed my business, moved from WV to VA and went back to teaching. Unfortunately, due to a house fire in 1990, i lost most of my collection. i have Kilauea (growing babies from bloom stems) , Emilie Savage, Artcturua, Firebird and leaves of Wonderland Would love to purchase Granger’s Heart’s Desire, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Desert Dawn, Lavendar Tempest, Garnet Elf, Coralette, and Seafoam Would also like White Madonna (suppose to be their first plant). Bought the original Valencia and Desert Dawn for $50, brought them home, crowned them out and sold the babies Hate that all the Eyerdoms that i knew have passed away. Last i was up there was when they were closing in 1996.

Is Playground Mulch OK for gardening

Any wood mulch product will eventually break down and can supply nutrients back to the soil - it just takes longer than most other types of organic mulches. Playground mulch is not all that different from using bark or wood chips as a mulch, although I would refrain from using it to mulch edible crops (glues and other additives may leach some potential toxins) and for shallow rooted plants like annual or perennials where there may be some nitrogen depletion at the soil surface, but it is fine to use around woody plants like trees and shrubs.

Looks like fun! Gosh those skates take me back ... back to when I was constantly falling on my face when I tried to use them! lol! I can't wait to see the next development. I will be curious to know what you do with that egg!

J/K, of course. But I don't think I'm the only one eager to see your playground garden evolve.
I was taking a mental inventory of my vintage outdoor-able toys, and am sad to say I think I sold my little red trike last summer. :(
But I do have a rusty red wagon and a mini wheelbarrow, and who knows what else. I have a couple of big old metal toy trucks, but they're in really good shape so they'll probably stay inside. In December I display them under the Christmas tree along with a metal erector set box, old skates, and some other odds & ends.

I am overjoyed to finally find a place where other people think like I do. My family and friends roll their eyes at me and my hobbies, you know.

I love your idea and what you have done soo far!!!! Someone else had a garden with toys... can't remember for sure who. I have dh's old tonka truck but he will not let me put it outside!! I'm drooling over your wagon and those wonderful skates.. haven't seen any like that in forever.
